Our Project (Building Safe Internet Community)

My group have conducted a special project for Usrah Budi 4 which is entitled 'Building a SAFE Internet Community'. We created an Instagram account as a main platform to conduct our project. The account username is @cybercircle_ because our niche for the project related to cyber security and circle as in Usrah we sit in circle to share our thoughts and knowledges. 

Our objectives for this project is: 

1. To raise awareness regarding the bad attitude that often occur among the internet users nowadays.

2. To inform about the importance on building a safe internet community

3. To give understanding and true ways on how should we use the internet wisely and how to build a safe internet community

There are 3 parts in this project which is: 

Google Form survey : To collect information regarding social media ethics and experiences 

Instagram infographic poster : To spread awareness and information regarding cyber ethics and guidelines

Instagram Live : A broader discussion on our project title and giving some solutions based on our Google Form survey


We received quite number of feedbacks and likes from our posting. Some of the audiences in IG Live also giving a good comments and thankful for our projects. 

For the future, it is recommended to do a project of providing a platform to share the unethical activities so, more unethical cases are to be known by the authorities. Other than that, make an interactive video on steps to build a safety internet community would be a nice project as people nowadays love to watch a short video such as in Tiktok and Instagram Reel. So, the project will benefits more people. 

Overall, this project is successful and achieved the targeted audience and numbers. We felt very warming and happy with the feedback and hoping that we together can build a safer internet community.

This project is something new that I have done because I got to gain knowledge for myself then share it to other people through social media not just by infographic poster, but also conducting live streaming to discuss on our topic for the project. It is quite challenging but I gained some new skills from the project. Furthermore, this project is one kind of community engagement where we promote the good ethics or amar ma'ruf towards people around us. Islamic perspectives are applied to the project and it motivates other people to understand deeply on the importance of safe internet community.  Every human action will be recorded whether good or bad including things shared on the internet, sometimes we ourselves are too careless and unethical or immoral in using the internet. This project reminds us to always entrust every deed to God and always remember the rewards and sin that will be given for each of our action.

This project would be better by inviting the speakers that experts in internet ethics and Islamic ethics so that we can have two perspectives and find the correlation between them. By that, people may understand that Islam actually have set a complete rule for the whole life, it covers the contemporary issues like internet and social media ethics too. Insya-Allah, this project should be continued and improve for the betterment of the Muslim's and nation's future.

  A normal human being, make sins everyday. We never escape from making mistakes in the world. These sins have become black spots in our hearts and make them sick. This video from Yasmin Mogahed gives us an awareness of this. My Experience & Hope

 The Community Engagement Project has given a precious experience for me. When I was searching for the information and discussing with my groupmates regarding the topic 'Depression is a sign of weak Iman', I got to reflect myself to always be concerned with people's emotion. The importance of faith is one of the point that give me a bigger relation of mental health and Iman.  Usrah Budi session is one of my resting and gaining knowledge platform. There are so many topics covered by Naqibah and group projects that acknowledge various issues and concerned. I feel happy with this group of people because everyone is very responsive and like to voice out their opinion. I can benefits a lot from this session. Alhamdulillah.  I hope for the next Usrah Budi or any study circle I may have more fun activities because nowadays we are having online class, and sometimes I lost my focus in class. USRAH BUDI 4 Reflection

 I have joined Usrah Budi 4 class for this semester, Semester 2, 2021/2022 with Sister Fida Ibrahim. The usrah session this time was more fun because there were various types of input given. Usrah sessions are filled with beneficial activities such as Tadabbur, sharing sessions, games, short film reviews and more. I love usrah sessions that have a variety of activities and provide knowledge and teaching at the same time. In terms of the content of the partnership, all of those partnerships can serve as a reminder to myself in being grateful and always remembering God. It became my spiritual food in my busy study. Sometimes the naqibah will give me a task to review a song or a short video, this activity opened my eyes to better think and understand the beauty of Islam. Since that this is the last Usrah Budi session for me, I cherish this class more and will appreciate all the sharings.
